VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT MAIN SHELTER
The main shelter is at 28 Ticonic Street. It is an 18 bed facility with a separate floor for families.
Office Volunteers
Volunteers are needed in 4 hour shifts, Monday through Friday, between 9 and 5.
Serve as receptionist by answering the phone, making visitors feel welcome, accepting donations, etc.
Do occasional, limited data entry.
Provide Meals
Meals are needed for up to twenty people daily, Sunday through Saturday.
Breakfast is served daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and clean-up must completed by 7:45 a.m.
Supper is served daily from 5:00 to 7:00 with clean-up done any time before lights out.
Cooking can be done by one person or teams.
Meals can be cooked on site or delivered.
Food can be donated or cooks can use food from the pantry.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Help is needed to do regular cleaning and maintenance, beyond that done by the guests.
These tasks can be done in 2 to 4 hours shifts anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Laundry
There are laundry facilities on-site or volunteers can take it to be done at home.
Provide Support for parents
In the Family Unit, volunteers are needed to help parents transition their children from their day-time activities.
Volunteers also Interact, entertain, and socialize with children, modeling good parenting skills; meanwhile helping to reinforce skills taught at parental classes.
Social Events
If you have musical skills, we would love volunteers to provide entertainment in the evenings.
Volunteers are needed to help in providing Holiday celebrations and to provide birthday celebrations for guests.
One-time projects
Volunteer as an individual or in groups.
Help is always appreciated with building repairs, seasonal cleaning, yard work and snow removal
